color..kitchen or all?
Hello,
I am living in a rental house in Hawaii. I am looking to just paint the walls (but am open to arrangement suggestions) and these are my thoughts.
1) I want to keep the colors fairly neutral. The landlords won't mind painting but I don't want to spend my last days here repainting back to white.
2) This is an open air condo in a tropical place. Colors need to accent that I think.
3) The appliances in the kitchen are black and the countertop is black with white specs.
Here is a link to the pictures that were taken when it was staged for selling. That is not how it looks today as far as pictures and furniture but gives an idea of floor color and what not. Our furniture is dark.

Any suggestions I can go to the landlords with?
Thanks!!

Hi duigoose,
I think that you can play with some neutral colors and create a great effect
You can paint the back wall with a darker color, in a dark hue and the living room in lighter clor, perhaps with a yellow / sand shadow
The image below shows my idea
The back wall is color 191-143-113 (RBG= red-blue-green)
The living wall is color 236-228-186 (RBG= red-blue-green)

That looks great! I will approach them with that idea. Another question - the stairs leading up to the second floor and the floors upstairs are a much darker wood. Would it make sense to carry the living room color upstairs and through the upstairs hall too?

Hi duigoose,
Glad to know you liked the idea!
Yes, indeed, extend the color to the staircase and upper hall is an excellent idea, because, in this way, you will be creating an integrated transition between both floors

Well, I know what rgb is but apparently the local hardware store does not.
I picked up a handful of paint chips trying to get close to what was suggested and this is what i have come up with. Please let me know what anyone thinks:
The chips are from Valspar (not a recommendation but so everyone hopefully be able to see what I am looking at).
I was looking at something around 291-6 (Aladdin's Lamp) for the kitchen wall then either 291-1 (Pale Wheat) or 291-2 (Moracco Desert) for the living room wall, halls and hall leading upstairs.
My other thought was the 325-6 (Toffee Crunch) for the kitchen and 317-2 (Nutria) for the rest just because it had a slight green tint to it.
Again, I am clueless but do they put these 6 colors on the same strip because they complement each other or is there a rhyme or reason.
Please have patience because I doubt this will be the end of my questions!!

Hi
You can check this website--> it converts the RGB colors to commercial paints / collections
EasyRGB - The inimitable RGB and COLOR search engine!
The Valspar brand is not in the list, but you will be able to see the colors, I;d suggest to avoid the chips, because usually the colors look different on the walls
