The house we are moving into has pink ceramic tile half way up the walls and around the tub. My husband does not think he can keep his breakfast down looking at all that "pepto bismo" pink each morning.
What can I do decorating wise to down play the pink?

Lightbulb Pink Tiles

I would recommend that you use a branded tile paint and just ditch the pink!!

A neutral cream or white would do the trick.

Buy a tile primer and any coloured silk or gloss can be used as the top coat.

You will probabily need 2-3 coats of each, allowing each to dry out fully before adding the next coat.

This is SO much cheaper than replacing the tiles and if you stay neutral it will fit in to ANY colour scheme you choose.

Question pink tile

Will this tile primer and paint work well in a wet area like the bath tub?

Wink Tile Paint

Sure will.
The best primer I would recommend is Dulux Trade Ultra Grip Primer.
This is a water-based primer (which means it is low odour and quick drying) and has excellent adhesion on smooth surfaces and provides a sound base for subsiquent paint finishes.

All you need then is to choose is the top colour.
Its available from your local Dulux Trade stockist (you may need to order).

another suggestion

I've also heard (and your going to think I'm crazy but I really did hear it) add MORE pink so that the color looks deliberate. You also would want to add other colors in the mix so that it is a coordinated look. I cannot remember what show I saw it on, but the bathroom was done in a sickly green tile, but when it was finished, (they had added more of that color - which they had hated - ) and it looked fantastic!!
