Long hallway

I am collecting advice on how to make a long hallway with white walls and ceiling and maple hardwood floors look smaller, warmer, and not so long. I am quite willing to paint and do anything to make this area more intimate. There are 3 doors on one side, 2 on the other, and a door at the end which leads to the master bedroom. I cannot put down a runner, as we have someone in the home who is disabled and could fall on such a rug. I would appreciate any advice you might give me.

Lightbulb Long thin hall

You could try adding a dado rail half way up the wall and painting the bottom half a darker colour and keep the top half light. Terricota and pale yellow/cream would work well with your maple floor.

Then I would add a couple of well chosen pictures and mirrors to break up the wall space.

If you have space add a hall table with mirror over. If not a simple shelf can break-up the space in a similar way.

Could a pot plant or lamp be added?
