Table staining opinions wanted

I'm in the process of staining my pine table and can't decide if I want to paint the legs black or leave them as they are. Thoughts? Name: 14549517804341657931868.jpg

I'm not very good with aesthetics but I think black would kill the table.

I can see it either way. Gloss black legs and aprons would be a refined look, perhaps a little more contemporary. All stained would be more traditional look. Guess it comes down to what you like and what other furnishing will be around it.

Getting a nice gloss painted finish will be more work though...although if you can remove the top that would help. But getting an even glossy paint job will take several coats of a good enamel. A lot easier if you have spray equipment.

Darker definitely

Black or a much darker stain on the bottom looks more contemporary to me. My personal preference is contemporary... If that's the look you like go with it.

I agree whether to paint or stain is all about personal tastes.

IMO you can get a nice looking paint job on the legs with a brush, especially if you use oil base enamel as it tends to flow together well. Sanding before each coat will both help with adhesion and remove/reduce any brush marks.

My vote would be to leave the legs stained but, as mentioned, this is a personal choice.

There are programs you can get, often from paint companies, which allow you to upload digital pictures and manipulate the colors. Might be helpful in this case.
