Jazzing up my home theater

I am in the process of updating my basement. We are replacing carpet with laminate, and painting walls a very light grey, and painting wood stained trim / baseboards white. This is an effort to remove all orange hues in the house, The home theater has double doors separating it from rest of basement. I am looking for advice on how to add interest (jazz up) the four speaker columns (two on each side of the room). The plan is to carry laminate through in to HT, and paint baseboards white as in rest of house. The doors will be stained a darker (Less orange!) brown. We were thinking of staining the speaker columns the matching dark color. The walls and ceiling will remain dark browns. Thoughts that have crossed my mind, are placing some back-lit LED panels, or some reflective patterned metal behind sconce lights (like the stick on metal backsplash materials) ...........

what about using black for baseboards?

HELPPPP!!

Thanks
