Question area rugs

I am getting ready to make an area rug with burlap backing(because jute is no where to be found) and would like to know if anyone knows how to sew it to thin carpet with a burlap border.Do I cut separate strips of burlap, or, do I cut one piece and stitch together somehow?

There is no need for backing on area rugs at all. You rug can and should be set onto a non-slip rug pad (not to be consufed with carpet padding) You can get it any any carpeting store and is very inexpensive.
