Wainscoating

I'm considering wainscoating w/chair rail in my living area, but is there a standard height to follow when installing wainscoating or is it an anything goes project.

Installing wainscoating

Wainscoating generally extends to the height of the chair rail, which tends to be 32" to 34" from the floor. There is no standard rule for placement. Click the following link for helpful info:

Height

Wainscoating does tend to run 32-34" up the wall when you are using chair rail. However, it looks great when run a bit higher too! A friend of mine took hers in her family room to 40" - and it gave the whole room character. It also made decorating easier with less 'empty' wall space.

We are planning to put in the same in our bath in the near future, have fun!
