Question Cathedral ceiling color choices

We're building a new house with a loft and the area above the living/dining/kitchen areas will be open with a high (22 feet) ceiling.

We're having trouble in deciding whether to paint the walls and ceiling the same color only in different shades - and if so is it best to make the ceiling lighter or darker? - or if we can make them different colors - we'd be contemplating green walls with gold ceiling.

Also, that high end wall, should we put the wall color all the way up or start with the ceiling color where the walls end on the sides and the ceiling begins?

Any suggestions will be appreciated, thanks.

I would say to put the high wall color all the way to the ceiling. It will look great, just adds character!

Also, if you want to paint same color different shades, that woiuld look great! If you want to maintain the height of the ceiling, go lighter up there, it will 'bring the ceiling down' to paint it darker.

But, I love the green-gold idea. That would be a very elegant color combo to go for.

Good luck!!!
