Talking decorating

I am about to bite the bullet and do something about my dated kitchen. It has dull, dark walnut coloured wood grained cabinets and a yellow (cracked) countertop. The rest of the house is mostly forest green carpeting with off white walls. Can I repaint the cabinets and the countertops? If so can anyone suggest some colours and how to go about it?
Thanks for the help
Barb

Painting kitchen cabinets

You can do a search on the Kitchen Forum and the Painting Forum for threads with posts to this frequently asked question. Color selection is a personal choice. Folks are moving away from white to bisque. Others select a color to complement their decor, such as a buttery yellow, sage green, or other color. Darker colors, however, may make your kitchen look smaller especially if you do not have a lot of light.
