Copperhood

I DESIGNED & CREATED MY CUSTOM HOOD IN MY KITCHEN OUT OF COPPER. THE BASE IS A "SKIN" OF TEXTURED COPPER AROUND THE HOOD & A COPPER "VINE" OF LEAVES AROUND THE TOP. MY QUESTION IS: AFTER POLISHING THE ENTIRE HOOD, HOW CAN I RETAIN THE COPPER COLOR? WOULD CLEAR SPRAY PAINT WORK?

THANKS,
ERCHASE

Protecting copper

Copper can be coated with a clear lacquer for protection. Eventually, the lacquer will have to be removed and the item repolished and relacquered. Lacquered copper should be cleaned with mild soap and water, rinsed, and buffed with soft cloth.
