removing gluedown tile and marlite

I want to remodel my bath, but not sure how to get off the old tub surround. It is glued on plastic stuff, like that Marlite stuff that was around 15-20 years ago. Also the floor has the tiles with the glue on the back and pressed down.Under the tiles is hardboard, the stuff with a shiny smooth side.Want to get that up ,too, and put down new underlayment and possibly a tile or ceramic floor.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks.

mark7,

This sounds like a gut out unless you are leaving the tub. It's simply called, DEMOILITION TIME! Break out the crow bar and start removing. You may or will have to replace drywall/plaster because the old glue on tiles may not come off. Best advice is to strip walls down to studs and start fresh, easier and less time consuming.

Once you have everything cleaned up, you can start to put it all back together the right way. Plan your steps out carefully.

Good Luck!
