Grout
#1

I guess the previous owner of my house thought it would be less maintenance if all the grout in the bathrooms were brown? As far as I am concerned, it just looks dirty! Is there any type of paint(?) or anything I can use to cover it, or do I have to chip it all out and try and re-grout?

I think anything you try to paint over the existing grout will eventually wash or wear away. The best solution is to remove the old grout. You can by a "grout ripper" tool. It's an inexpensive hand tool. Basically, it will grind and tear the old grout out. I've only used it on small repair jobs. For a larger job like yours, I think once you get going, the grout will come out fairly fast. Try to get at least 1/8 to 1/16" of the grout out. This will give you a good groove to re-grout.
