How to make big walk in shower

We have a large space for our basement shower. It has a drain and the pipes are ready. I have seen walk in showers with just a little barrier that you step over. What is the floor made of and the walls? Can you use a fiber glass sheet of plastic for walls. The floor seemed to be almost like a swimming pool floor. Any help would be great.

we are planning a bathroom renovation and hope to do as much of the labour as we can to prep. we are novices so much research is required. It seems a 5 in 1 tool is something we would get use out of (removing old tiles etc). what is it, and if there are any ozzies reading this, can we buy them in Australian hardware stores?

I was wondering if anyone had any information about how to paint ceramic tiles in a shower??? My mom's shower is the ugly "70's gold". We were wondering if there is a way to paint the tiles a new color rather than riping them all out and starting over??? Any information would be appreciated! Thanks! Andie :)
