Mounting Lighting Fixture onto Mirror

How do you mount a lighting fixtures onto a mirror without breaking or cracking the mirror?

This is new construction and the wiring is in the walls, just not certain how to cut the mirror. Would like the lighting fixture mounting about 6-8" from the top of the mirror so light reflects off the mirror.

Mounting Lighting Fixture onto Mirror

KAN,

You may want to contact a good Glass and Mirror company for advice or for them to do it. I've seen this type of application but never how they did it. Unfortunately, the hole was made before the mirror got delivered.

Good Luck and let us know what you did!

I did a similar thing years ago. I brought the glass to a local glass shop to have the hole made. The fixture I used had a base which would have been screwed to a wall and then had a decorative cover which screwed to the base.
I went down to my local auto parts store and bought the glue that you use to attach a rear view mirror to the windshield. I used that glue to mount the fixture's base to the glass and then screwed the decorative base on as usual. It was still hanging on 5 years later when I sold the house.

Good Luck and let us know what you do.
