ceramic tile installation

In a bathroom remodel the Durock on the fixture wall of shower curves slightly toward the bath wall. What can I use other than wood shims (which would probably rot over time) to straighten out the wall to accept a flat tiled surface?

Trish,
It sounds like someone placed the Durock and/or the drywall behind it over the lip of the tib. Best advice is to remove this, cut the drywall and durock so it just meets the lip. This way you don't use wood shims or anything else. See the attached link for help;

Hope this helps!
