felt substitute

First time post ...

Is there anything I can use as a substitute for 15# felt to serve as a isolation membrane for a shower's mortar bed? I'd rather not buy a full roll of felt from Home Depot when I only need 25-30sf. If not, does anyone sell felt in sheets, rather than rols?

TIA,

Chris

Chris,

Then best pan liner is one made of PVC , 40 mil thick. I only use felt, and that is usually 30# for large floor areas, NEVER for a shower area due to no guarantee that you are providing insurance against water leaking into unknown areas. I think that you can get one already cut in a size of 5' x 6' or they do have rolls sold by the LNFT in 4ft and 5 ft widths at Home Depot or seek similar product through a ceramic tile distributor.

Example of application below;

Hope this helps!
