Question Sliding Shower Doors

Can the framework that holds the sliding shower doors on a ceramic bathtub be removed with no or minimal damage to the tub? What would be the best way to go about it?

TerriA,

It can. Usually these are installed with plastic anchors that are placed into the ceramic tile walls. Once you have removed all the screws that hold the metal frame, take a utility knife and score the caulking that may be on both inside and outside of metal grame - be careful. Try and go at an angle that will not cut or scratch the tile.

Once you have done this, carefully pry the trim off by lifting one vertical side and twisting, this will avoid any damage. When these have been removed, plastic anchors with a pliers or reinsert the screw and just install it so that you can pull the anchor out with the pliers. Don't screw it in too far as it will spread the anchor preventing removal. These holes can be filled with clear or colored silicone caulk. Wipe it smooth and it should look good.

Hope this helps!
