walk in shower

We are remodeling our bathroom and would like to take out our tub and make a walk in shower. What would the depth of the walk in shower have to be to be practical so we wouldn't have water all over the floor. Or could you tell me what an average size of a walk in shower is?

Lgreg,

What you ask is more based on what you are looking for. Showers that are practical would be something over 34" deep. Do you have room for this? As you can tell alot of premanufactured units can be 32", 34", 36", 38" or deeper with widths varying as well. Issues also to think about is type of doors or use of curtain, curb to keep water within the shower pan area. I have attached one project that had a tub, we shortened it slightly to approx 52" long and 38" deep. Double shower heads /seperate controls.
