The window in our bathroom is right over the tub and needs to be replaced. It is an old wooden casement .What kind of replacement, and trim would you suggest that will hold up to the water?

VINYL, VINYL, VINYL. Get the message????

The worst place for a window is in the bathroom in the bath area. A vinyl window will not be effected by water. Make sure the sill and moldings are also vinyl or vinyl coated. This will eliminate the necessity to replace the window.

We just did one not long ago and plan to tile around it. Only thing I'd like to say is making sure sill slopes away from the window and seal it well.
Good luck!

Did you ever consider glassblock? If you opt for a conventional window and are using a fiberglass surround, two companies I know of, Swanstone & E.L. Mustee make window trim kits that cover the sill and casings with matching material.
