Question

If you want to build a new bathroom (not a remodel) do you have to hire a licensed plumber or can you do the work yourself (I live in Massachusetts if that needs to be known)?

Here in Oregon, code states a homeowner can do the pwn plumbing.

I do recommend using a plumber, there is alot of codes that deal in this.

Building codes are one thing. Having a new bathroom that works properly is another. I've seen too many questions about plumbing problems done by home owners.

Getting the water to the bathroom isn't much of a challenge. However, getting rid of it can be another problem all together.

I'd get three quotes and check references. Then go with the company with the best reputation. Although this will cost more now, just think what it might cost of you do it wrong.

When you get your building permit, ask them about a licensed plumber or not. Every state is different. In my state you must use a licensed plumbers in towns exceeding 2500 people.
