Question

The standard tub is 5' (60"). We are redoing a basement bathroom. We removed the homemade shower stall from the 50's (don't ask) and I would love to put a tub in instead but there is only about 55 or 54" to work with. Is this an impossible dream to have a tub? Should I stick with a new shower stall?

Dear Clueless,

I know that clawfoot tubs come in 4 1/2 feet, and I think you might find one that is 4 if you look around. Either way it'd be a tight squeeze.

Good luck,

You might try checking with a dealer of Class A motorhomes - upscale models. My husband and I were looking at some the other day (no I can't afford one but they're pretty). Not only were they lovely and classy they also had under 5' tubs and tub/shower combinations. Just might be a source for what you need.

Really good idea about the RV dealership. Never would have thought of that myself.

Perhaps the folks over at plumbing have other teriffic ideas.
