Cool Need to move tub drain 2 in or so... Help

OK... so.. long story short.. we have had to take care of some dry rot and install a new tub in our mobile home bathroom. I have everything ready to install the new tub, put it in to make sure everything fit and guess what..... the drain doesnt line up...... after smiling at hubby and breathing some naughty words.... now what.. the drain comes up and the p-trap needs to be extended. The good news is the floor is open in that area and have room to move things.... LUCKY me . . . so.. do i just add a piece to extended hortizanally and then keep the trap there? just need some help . . without making yet ANOTHER trip to home depot lookin stupid ! !

Thanks for all your help.... did I say... this site ROCKS ! ! it is awesome and look forward to hanging out here.... hopefully to help others also !

Cool

You're right. You just need to add an extension piece from the drain to the trap to match up with the new tub drain. Maintain the 1/4" per linear foot of slope toward the main drain line.
To seal the new drain to the the new tub, roll a roll of new plumber's putty in your hands about the size of a pencil and wrap it around the depression around the drain hole, and then tighten the drain down. Wipe away the excess putty.
Good Luck!
