Cool Old grout on walls

I have a bathroom project going on right now. I have removed all of the old ceramic tile from the walls in the bathroom, but I am having a hard time getting the old grout off the wall. The tile was only halfway up the wall. I thought about just taking the walls down and replacing them with green board and such, but the walls are in very good conditions (this house was built in 1963 and it was definitely built to last) and the grout is only on the bottom of the walls.

Any comments or suggestions out there on how to get the old grout off the wall without tearing down the walls?

huck911,

If you like to work hard use a chisel and have had it. For all the work you are going through, it may be best to just remove what is there and do it up right. You didn't mention what you were going to apply over it. Greenboard is fine, to just paint or to apply tile over it again.

Good Luck!
