tub caulk problems

I just re-caulked the tub about a week ago. I noticed tonight while bathing the kids that there are some areas that wet (and able to be reformed with finger) after getting wet.

Any ideas what would have caused this? Also, my gap space is about 1/4" should I be filling with something before caulking?

Thanks,

Martin

Martin,

Depending on what type of caulk you used, which sounds like acrylic latex you may want to replace this with 100% silicone. Ensure that the area is totally dry. Use a fan if you have to.

Good Luck!

Caulk

Silicone caulk is recommended for tubs and showers. Old caulk will have to be removed and surfaces thoroughly cleaned with mineral spirits before installing new caulk.
