Question Concrete behind shower tile???

HELP! Hubby and I are removing leaky old standalone shower in our 1951 house and converting tub (next to it) to combo shower/tub (i.e. switching shower head to other side of wall). Plan is to convert shower stall area to closet...

Demolition resulted in find that shower stall tile is laid on 3/4" to 1" of concrete (all three shower walls). How can we get this out and the wall down to the studs? Hints/tips on specific tools to use and way to do it?

THANKS!

i just had the same ordeal. i just used a hammer and pounded away... lots of time and lots of ceramic tile came down. i ended up filling 12 5-gallon buckets. then i pulled the old metal screen off afterwards. just don't go to hard to through the other wall...
good luck..

Talking Thanks

Thanks. Hubby opted for renting a Hilti combi-hammer. Took two days of hard labor but... it is gone and the project is moving forward. Thanks for your thoughts.
