filling space bathtub and tile

I have a 1/8" to 1/4" space between my tiles and tub. My tub is a roman tub with a shelf around it. Water collects on the shelf when I take a bath, and obviously when I take a shower. I have tried caulking it, I have tried using "Magic" bathtub sealer trim -- but so far nothing has stopped it from leaking into the wall and out to my entryway. Do you have any suggestions about what to do?

100% silicone caulk with a guard on each corner of tub to divert water back into the garden tub.

It sounds like the design of this is not pratical for showering purposes.

You might want to use less water in the tub while bathing to avoid the splash up on the shelf surrounding tub, I am sure there is a ledge preventing the water from returning into the tub.
