bathtub inserts

We just recently removed a cracked bathtub/shower insert. We will be replacing it. The previous insert appeared to be put in place with glue. Must we remove this glue in order to reapply a new insert?

newtome,

I am assuming that this is a 3 or 5 pc plastic insert that is applied to walls only?

It is best to remove the glue as it will not be flat and any residue behind it will transfer through.

If needed, you may have to replace the drywall. It may be wise to try a good rigid putty knife and scrape it clean. Once done, use joint coumpound to fill in any divots. Then apply new insert.

Good Luck!
