Bathroom has little to no ventilation...
#1

Ok, so we recently bought a house that has an unfinished basement apartment which includes a partially finished bathroom. The bathroom is small and has little to no ventilation. We just finished laying tile and are moving on to the walls and ceiling. I was wondering what the best course of action would be to reduce moisture and ward off mold. Thanks!

Check at home depot and lowes they both have vent fans just for the bath. You can put one in there with lights and all. Vent it to the out side you can use a dryer vent flipper for it 4"or 3"and go out right there in the belt board of the home.

Ventilation for 1/2 bath
On the same thread,
I just bought a house with a 1/2 bath in the middle of the house. Its
ventilation to the outside was removed when an addition was made years
ago. I'm remodelling the bath so do I really need to add ventilation to the
outside for the 1/2 bath ?
The current vent just send air to the space between the floor that is not
insulated !!. Can I get away without an external vent since this is just
a 1/2 bath.
Thanks,

Id say check code there for sure. Here yes if no window in it you have to have a ventfan to the outside. You dont ever vent to just the attic. You are looking at big trouble down the line.

Hold up..
Please take one step back and think about one thing... What is the biggest thing to hit the lawsuit and Home expenses these days.. MOLD... That is right mold... It may not happen right away, but it will happen... I don't care if it is just a little fan, always vent a bathroom exhaust to the outside world... You can run a vent with few to no problems and they are well worth many times their weight in Gold... Depending upon where you live, you may also run into a problem if you ever decide to sell your home and the inspector comes upon the bath with no vent in it or vent run into just the attic...
Just like Ed mentioned, you can into the nearest home improvement center and get yourself a vent fan/light combination that will not only look good but work wonderfully...
Good Luck and Good Venting...
p.s. If you ever want to rent that property out, again in most places, you have to have a properly run vent in the bathroom to be approved for a rental...
