Measuring Old Bathtub

Help! I want to replace an old bathtub that has tile on three sides. The tub measures 58.5" in length. Can this be right? Is it possible that it is a 60" tub when you take into account the sheet rock and tile thickness? How do I know?

Thanks,
Sherry

Sherry,

You're absolutely right!

You may want to remove a faucet cover and see what you have. You could remove a small section of the wall that won't get wet just to see what you have. A small section is like a 1" square.

Hope this helps!

Sherry,

Most likely a 60" tub. 60 - 58.5 = 1.5"

1.5" / 2 end walls = 3/4"

Probably 1/2" CBU or drywall + 1/4" tile at each end.
