wainscot/Chair Rail over bathroom wall tile?
#1

I am slowly updating my bathroom. So far I have put in a pedestal sink and a new toilet. It has the 70's green ceramic tile now.
My first thought was to cut the wall just above the tile, demo the tile then just re sheet rock.
Seeing I have been updating the house with a colonial style I was thinking maybe I could go over the tile with wainscot or something thinner that looks like wainscot.
Any suggestions?

rUfUnKy,
I would highly recommend removing whatever tile you have even if it means applying new drywall. Any effort in trying to properly secure the wainscoat would be a waste of time. Kinda hard attaching wainscoating with nails through tile and adhesive may not or shall I say, will not be good enough.
If you do this right, we are not talking about alot of taping as your wainscoat and trim would cover what you are replacing.
Good Luck!
