Tub Preference

In the middle of renovating the bathroom and plan to replace the tub. I've already removed the old cast iron tub. Question is, what's the best type of replacement? I just want a plain old tub but was wondering if I should go with castiron, steel or fiberglass? What are the pros and cons? I plan to be in the house awhile and want to pick something that will last and stand up to wear and tear as this is the main bath.

Just for the sheer weight alone, fiberglas. If you properly lay a good bed for it to sit in, it will be as solid as a rock.

I'd go steel.

Cast Iron will be super heavy, not something you probably want to do.

I don't like the feel of fiberglass.

It comes down to personal preference. Def use a mortar bed, like chandler said.

Just a personal observation, but I've never liked fiberglass tubs.
