Cutting tile already on wall

Our home is about 35 years old with the existing bathroom fixtures still in place - same paint, wallpaper, tile, etc. The old medicine cabinet was 45" wide and there was bathroom tile on the sides of it and the new cabinet that we have picked out is 48" wide so we need to cut away about 2" of tile on each side of our existing area for the larger cabinet - how do I go about cutting tile evenly that is already hanging on the bathroom wall?

You could use a Roto-zip tool with the proper cutting tool in it. Measure from the base of the tool to the outside (so your cut is at the proper location) and then build a frame out of wood and use two sided tape to secure the frame to the wall. Follow the frame with the tool and cut the tile. Wear safety glasses. Good luck.

Careful!!

Those roto-zip bits break very easily when cutting tile. Make sure you have some extras!!!
