Question securing bathtub???

hi, a quick question. I am getting conflicting answers on this.

I just bought a fiberglass tub to install. as far as securing to wall I have heard that I don't need to use anything...the next guy told me to use some sort of adhesive...

what's the right way?

Does it have a shower unit? Does it have a lip around the top? If so, then predrill holes at each stud and install a screw, not too tight, but secure. If you are sheetrocking above the unit, apply 1 1/2" lattice strips on the face of the studs to bring them up to the same plane as the lip of the shower/tub unit. Apply your wall covering and finish.

You must secure the shower to the wall. If you don't and the shower shifts you can break pipes and have alot bigger problem.

As for what to use to fasten to the wall I would use both.

But it depends on what the wall is behind the shower. If you decide to go with screws make sure you get them into studs.

Goodluck
