Repair crack in ceraminc sink - how??

I have a lovely ceramic sink that a crack has suddenly appeared in the base. We don't know how but we really want to know if anyone can advise how to repair the crack before it gets wider or have to replace the sink that we love.

Can you help?

Ceramic sinks are molded from clay which is then kiln-fired at very high temperatures. Once cracked, there is no repair. Overtightening the drain can put stress on bowl and cause it to crack. Thermal shock can also cause ceramic to crack due to sudden temperature changes. When one part of the sink is a different temperature than another part, these parts expand or contract at different rates. This places stress on the ceramic and can cause it to crack. Ceramic is hard and abrasion resistant, but it is brittle and can crack more easily than other sink materials.
