Question seal under sliding shower door

I have moved into a new home & the sliding shower door in the master bath is not sealed to the tub, there is a gap underneath it (with associated hair & ickyness growing there). Is there some sort of seal or gasket that would be used to fill the gap under the door?

I am thinking that I need to remove the door, clean parts thoroughly, and re-install with the gasket(?) and seal inside and out with the appropriate caulk (what would be a good caulk for this application anyways?).

Assistance would be appreciated!

Clean the area and get yourself some 100% silicone caulk and caulk the area. Before you caulk make sure it is completely dry and give it 24hrs before getting it wet after you caulk it.

That will work but taking the door all the way off cleaning and reinstalling with caulking will be the best. Make sure you create a "Dam" under the frame to the base and caulk all around the oustide to have the best seal.

Question create a "dam" with what?

Thanks for the info. I figured it best to remove & clean it & then re-install it. What do you mean by a dam? And do you have any reccommendations?

Thanks again!
