How much to charge for tile job.

I have been asked to tile someone's shower. Not the entire bathroom, just the three walls of the shower (not the ceiling).

The materials have already been bought.

But how much should be charged for this?

I have tiled my own bathroom and kitchen, but I never had to figure costs and since I did it at my pace, didnt think much about the time involved.

The way I see it, I would be there three or four times.

1) Install cement board and start tiling

2) finish tiling

3) grout

4) final cleanup,check everything out

Any ideas / thoughts on how to charge for this?

Tile installation costs tend to vary from area to area. Call some tile dealers in your area and ask them how much it would cost you if you were having it done. This is, of course, does not include removal of existing shower walls and any repair problems that you may run into.

Just had the exact work quoted....
$1100 from one tiler and $1400 from another.....excluding tile.
Haven't started yet,but I bought tiles and Durock to do it myself for $400.

be careful

If this is for a friend be very careful. last year my friend and her husband took out their old sink. They needed help putting back the tiles. I replaced the tiles in the middle of the wall, not fun. Now they noticed the soap disk in the tub was loose and the faucets need to be changed, there is trap door behind the faucets, but its painted shut and since they know i can do FIX it they ripped out half of the wall. Right now we are selling our old house and building a new one, needless to say I have no spare time. It's not the money, they will pay but it is a definite strain on the friendship.
Find out what a tile man makes per hour and keep track of your time. Good luck
