Jacuzzi tub material
Looking at purchasing a Jacuzzi brand jet tub. A model at Lowes is a lot less expensive than those at the plumbing retail store. Also, the model at Lowes is not handled by the plumbing retail store. The one at Lowes seems to be manufactured just for Lowes. Have not been able to determine the difference in construction that would count for the big difference in cost.
Any information on this?
Thanks.

Sometimes there is little difference, however motor size, pump size orifice size, etc. can vary. You will find, too, that repair parts for those at the plumbing supply house may not fit the one from Lowe's. The big boxes have items specifically designed and manufactured for their "lower prices", so a good investigation into the components is in order.
I bought a John Deer self propelled mower from HD. Needed a repair part, and wouldn't you know it, HD didn't have any idea where to get one. I had to go to a John Deere dealer, and they could tell from the model number that it was a HD product, not a "regular" JD.

Many manufacturers manufacture builder grade products for the big box stores. Most tub manufacturers market builder grade, mid-price, and luxury models. In February, 2007, Apollo acquired Jacuzzi and their stock ceased to trade on the NY Stock Exchange.
Buying from a reputable dealer is important. The dealer should keep parts in stock and be able to instruct you on operation, chemicals, and maintenance before and after you purchase your tub. You will want a dealer who is close to your home in case you need service.
Do not sacrifice quality for price. Your dealer should be able to explain the subtle differences between price levels. Noise level, metal versus plastic components, type, size, placement and adjustability of jets, accessibility to components, fit and finish of tub, heater, energy efficiency, and comfort are just a few considerations.
