Fiber cement board (hardibacker) question

Hi everybody! I just installed hardibacker boards in my bathroom. But I had to remove 1 pc 'coz I made a mistake. Can I still use it again? I screwed it every 8 inches around the edges and along every stud. Can I just cover the holes with thinset? Thanks!

Sure, you can reuse it. I'm assuming you screwed it to the wall. If this is a tub or shower surround, unless you are using a topical water proofing product, you need to use 4-6 mil poly sheeting or roofing felt behind it and let it drape over the tub/shower pan flange. If it's outside the tub shower area, then regular sheet rock would be fine (FYI). Had you used it on the floor, properly installed onto a required bed of thinset, then it would have been history.

Tilebri,

Thanks for the advice. It's in the tub area and I screwed it on the wall over 6 mil plastic.
