Installing OTR microwave

I would like to replace my stove hood with a microwave oven.

I keep getting different answers about how much space is necessary between the bottom of the cabinets to the surface of the stove. I'm enclosing a picture to show exactly what I have.

Can I put a microwave in that space?
Thanks!

There's usually 18" between countertop and bottom of cabinets. With a 4" backsplash on counter, that leaves 14" in the backsplash area. Folks who install OTR MW usually have to go with shorter cabinet above range or have to raise the cabinet to accommodate the MW.

Normally 18" from the top of the range to the bottom of the micro-wave is ok. If you go to the different manufactures sites for the units you're looking at they should have the minumum clearances.
