Kithcen Cabinet Install Question

Hello all, happy new year.

Got a question. When installing base cabinets, how do you shim the back corner of the base cabinet on the side that it is butting up to previous cabinet?

In other words, when you put in the first cabinet, you can get to all sides of it, but on the second cabinet the rear corner by the first cabinet is inaccessible to shim, so what's the trick?

thanks -
marshall

Let your shim of the first cabinet overlay halfway over the area where the second one will go. Then set your second cabinet on it. After all, if the shim was needed at that particular point for the first cabinet, it will be the same for the second one. Use wider shims at those points. I usually use cedar shingles cut down to about 3" wide, then trim them as needed.
