Faux Stone Backsplash with vinyl tiles?

The link below shows what I'm talking about:

http://video.msn.com/?mkt=en-US&bran...a-7bd6a0578fcf

Anyone care to comment? Would this look "cheap"? The wall above our kitchen backsplash is a bit uneven, would this vinyl look "ok"?

Any other tips / advice / comments or suggestions?

Vinyl floor tiles is a less expensive option, especially for those with a limited budget. It's also an option for those who want to cover backsplash that has wavy walls because vinyl will flex. Tiles that look like natural stone with grout would look more natural.

A high-end option would be to cover the backsplash with copper or stainless steel. These rolled materials are good options for wavy walls, but they are expensive.

Ceramic tile requires a flat surface. On wavy walls you compensate for the waviness with the thinset when setting tiles.
