Question how do i cut out a rectangle in middle of 6" tile?

hey friends

how would i cut out a rectangle in the middle of a natural stone tile (6" x 6") for a receptacle?...is there anway i can do this?

Thats a tough cut in 6x6 stone. You can try with an angle grinder and 4' diamond blade. Make cuts on the front of the tile and make an x in the middle connecting the corners. Finish up the cuts on the back. Take your time. 6x6 tile is pretty small for this type of a cutout. If you are too close to the edge it may be impossible. If you havent put any tile up yet, it may be possible to change your layout so the box falls on 2 or 4 tiles. Much easier cuts that way. If you try a few tiles and can't get it to work you may have to cut a tile in half and then make U cuts. It may not be that noticeable with the box and plate.

If you have a Rotozip tool, they make a diamond drill bit to cut porcelain and granite.
