Bathroom vanity tile

Bathroom vanity tile

We have removed an old marble vanity top and want to now tile.......do I have to install plywood AND fireboard or just the plywood?

I've tiles a couple of vanity tops using just plywood. I still have one after nearly 20 years w/o a problem.

Use minimum 3/4" plywood. A second layer of plywood say a 1/2" would be a good idea. Over that use 1/4" cement board. If its a small vanity top you can probably skip the second layer of plywood.
