One More Vinyl + Tile Question - Last time, I swear...
Alright, so I know I'm supposed to rip up my vinyl floor before putting down the thinset/backboard/tiles...but....
My house was built in 1978 and underneath the first layer of vinyl, we believe we have the original layer of vinyl. I'm told that it could contain asbestos.
Can someone tell me how I test for asbestos/what to do about my floor?

Dear RobDude
Dear RobDude,
They didn't use asbestos on floors in residential buildings, only in factories. Your walls/interior walls maybe made of asbestos but definelty not your flooring. It would be a vinyl tile as well. Hope that helps.

It was some random guy at the Home Depot who told me the tiles might have asbestos. The house built in Northern CO, in 1978.

That is completely and totally WRONG. Asbestos was used in some residential flooring and also in the mastic. Do a Google search for "residential asbestos" and see what comes up.
