Bathroon Grout problem

Hey:
In the process of replacing some tiles in the bathroom, we applied the grout as directed and let it cure over night. There was some clean up that we missed and tried cleaning the tiles with one of those green kitchen sponges with a scrubbing pad on the back of the sponge. Anyway, some of the green color came off into the white grout.. What should I do to get this out? Should I wait a few days and then hit it with a mixture of bleach and water? Help please as this is a real eye sore on this tile job that other than this Green grout line, looks great!

Dan: try striking the joints with the back of a toothbrush. Were these 4 1/4 x 4 1/4" tiles? Were you using unsanded grout?

 

Could he try to sand lightly? Similar to getting a mark out of a toilet?

 

Probably could, but do it with a fine paper and avoid scratching the surface of the tile. Fold the sandpaper and use only the sharp edge, running it up and down the grout line. May even want to use sanding screen instead of paper. May last longer. Good idea.

Thanks and yes they are the 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 tiles and I used grout with sand. I used the pre mixed type because there were not that many tiles to install.

I will wait another day to make sure it is dry and then use some fine sand paper and let you know the results.

Ouch.... Were it me - I would get after it before it can cure another second. Probably try a thin/stiff brush (copper bristles) to get that green leftover out of there. If all else fails - a solution of (I hate to suggest this) muriatic acid/water will eat away at the top layer of the grout... but don't let it sit very long or it will eat away at all of the grout.
