Burned Popcorn Odor
:mask: Help, I burned popcorn in my microwave and the odor is horrible. I bought odor eliminator scents but they have not removed the odor and it has been a week. When I use the microwave, it throws the odor back into the house. Initially, I wiped down the microwave but two days ago, I removed the cover at the top of the microwave and cleaned it. It still throws out some odor. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, Jen

Burned Popcorn Odor
Connie, Thanks for your advice but I realllllly burned the popcorn as well as the Orville microwave popcorn popper. I had used vinegar in the past when I slightly burned popcorn and it worked but this time, it was a major burn. Thanks, Jen

If the heat was high enough the smell could become impregnated in the paint and plastic and may always be present.
If it is charred it would not be healthy to breathe.
This happened to us on a brand new microwave where the bag ignited.
The odor eventually faded but the paint also peeled on the interior.
It might be time for a new microwave.

Sorry vinegar didn't work, Jen. I did a search for your problem, and most say the vinegar needs to steam for fifteen minutes to be effective...same for lemon.I'd be a little cautious about using chemicals- I think that kind of residue would be unhealthy.
