Tiling tub walls

I have removed the tub surround that was installed on cedar plank walls, they are in great shape. I would like to leave the cedar walls and install tile using 1/4 inch concrete board. We would be using 12 inch tiles and cedar trim around the raised edges of the tile. Would this be a satisfactory installation?
