Painting Tile on Kitchen Countertop

My kitchen has an old mustardy yellow tile countertop with dark brown grout. I hate it but I can't afford to replace it right now. I've heard that there is a paint which can be used on tile and will make it look like multi colored granite. Has any one ever tried this? How durable is it?

If there are any other suggestions out there I would be open to them as well. Just looking for something affordable that I can do myself possibly over a weekend.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the product you are referring to but generally it's a bad idea to paint tile because of adhesion issues - especially bad when the tile is used for food preparation.

I know its a job removing the old tile tops but formica is still a good, cheaper, good looking top if your just looking for replacements. We would all love to have granite or stone or fancy slate or new tile but for many of us it is out of our price range. Look into all the types they have.
