Back butter?

Hello all!

After spending much of last week fixing a bowed wall I am ready to start tiling and have a technique question before I start. After applying the thinset to the wall with the 1/4" notched trowel should I back butter the tiles? The tiles are 6" x 6" if that makes any difference.

Thanks again for your input.

Good to hear...

you're making progress! No, you only back butter when you are unable to use your trowel spread the mortar.

The tile is just a plain 6x6 ceramic tile.
