Shower alclove problem

I have to build an alcove for this three piece fiberglass shower. As you can see on the pictures, http://babysbathroom.blogspot.com/ studs along the wall are laid flat. Will these flat studs make a difference in the way the unit sits? Maybe I’m over thinking this project, but the instructions on this shower are really lousy.

I hope you don't mind, I looked at the other pix, as well...What a lot of work you've done!

Am I correct in thinking you are concerned the back of the alcove doesn't make contact with enough of the 2x4's?

I don't know how the alcove is secured- I've never built one, but if you cut 2x4's to the width between the uprights, then secure by toenailing, or angling screws, does that give you what you need?

Okay, I went to look again...is it the lip on the top, holding it away from the wall?
